Tucson, AZ (October 24, 2020) – An accident in the Tucson area claimed one woman’s life on Thursday morning, according to reports. At approximately 7:30 a.m., on October 22, the Tucson Police Department responded to the scene of an accident on East Old Vail Road.

Reports show that 41-year-old Nola Rene Simonsen was driving a 2018 Ford Escape when her vehicle collided with a 2017 Peterbilt semi-truck near 9290 East Old Vail Road. The Ford became entrapped underneath the semi-truck.

Police arrived and closed off East Old Vail Road between South Rita Road and South Houghton Road as they worked to assist the victims and clear the scene. Upon arriving at the site of the accident, Simonsen was pronounced deceased. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the accident.

Crews worked diligently to clear the scene of the accident and to reopen the road for traffic. At this time, investigations surrounding the accident are underway.
