Bicycle Accidents in Arizona
People of all ages use bicycles for transportation and for enjoyment. More recently, we have seen an increase in the number of bicyclists sharing roads throughout our state. Although riding a bicycle is an effective and generally safe method of travel, these riders are injured at an alarming rate by negligent and reckless drivers. In fact, more than 2,000 bicycle accidents are reported annually in Arizona. Riding on highways and near busy roads can increase the chances of bicyclists being involved in accidents. Like motorcyclists, these riders remain with very little protection while traveling. As a result, bicyclists are more likely to suffer catastrophic injuries after being struck by other vehicles.
Many bicyclists are left with broken bones, head trauma, and other debilitating injuries that require medical treatment and hospitalization. These accidents often leave vulnerable victims with permanent disabilities that impact their abilities to perform various tasks, including impeding their ability to work. Not only are the pain and suffering of injuries overwhelming, but the financial burdens victims and their families are forced to endure can have a dramatic impact on the lives of victims and their families. When victims sustain injuries in collisions, due to the reckless actions of others, it is imperative that they reach out to an Arizona bicycle accident attorney as soon as possible. Victims may be entitled to compensation to help them move forward from their accidents and cover the costs for medical treatment and other financial burdens they face moving forward.
